Vintique Motors is thrilled to present this 1969 Harley-Davidson Sprint SS 350!
The Sprint SS is a purpose-built flat track racing motorcycle whose history starts in Italy being produced between 1968 – 1972 by Italian motorcycle manufacturer Aermacchi under the Harley-Davidson brand. Aermacchi was founded in 1912 in Lombardy, Italy as an aircraft manufacturer and started producing motorcycles in 1951 and in 1960 Harley-Davidson purchased 50% of Aermacchi’s motorcycle division.
The partnership was generally successful with several motorcycles produced for the U.S. market under the Harley-Davidson brand as well as development of racing bikes led to Harley-Davidson purchasing the remaining 50% from Aermacchi in 1972 leading to a threat-peat world championship wins in the 250cc class in 1975, 1976, and 1977 as well as a single championship in the 350cc class in 1976.
The Sprint SS 350 was designed for flat track racing in which just 250 were produced for the 1969 model year. It features an air-cooled 344cc OHV single-cylinder with a Dell’Orto carburetor mated to a close-ratio 4-speed manual gearbox with a wet multi-plate clutch. It was constructed of with a tubular steel chassis and suspension consisted of telescopic front forks and a double-sided swingarm with twin shocks.
This example was treated to a comprehensive restoration and displays beautifully in Harley orange paint with a black frame. Accompanying the bike is the original build sheet with full mechanical specs and it is ready to display in your collection.
