To be sold at NO RESERVE on Bring a Trailer
Vintique Motors is thrilled to present this highly original, 3k-original mile, 1971 Honda Trail CT70H!
Released in 1969, the Honda CT70 was a larger sibling to the hugely popular Honda Z50 Monkey. The “CT” abbreviation stood for “Cub Trail” which encapsulated the intentions of the new model; A small trail bike designed to be cheap, easy to ride, and simple to maintain. Honda engineers developed a pressed steel backbone frame for the CT70, it was both strong and less expensive to make than a more traditional frame made from tubular steel. The engine is mounted beneath the top section of the frame as an air-cooled, single cylinder, four stroke 72cc unit with a single overhead cam and a single carburetor.
The bike has a four-speed transmission, 10″ three-piece wheels, drum brakes, trail lighting, a side stand, a right grab handle, twist-lock folding handlebars, chrome fenders, an upswept exhaust system, an inverted fork with rubber gaiters, and a black seat. Twist-lock folding handlebars frame a Nippon Seiki 50-mph speedometer that indicates recommended shift points. The five-digit odometer shows 3,173 miles.
This is a highly original example in great condition. It was sold new on June 15th, 1972 at Long Beach Honda and registered in Norwalk, California in which it was last registered in California in 1978 per the tag on its original blue plate. It would later spend time in a private collection in Florida before joining our private collection here in Michigan in 2020. It is in excellent running and riding condition and includes an additional original Honda seat in new old stock condition as well as the original manuals and original sales paperwork.
