On offer is this 1984 Porsche 911 Carrera Targa beautifully finished in its original factory colors of Guards Red over a Black all leather interior complete with a 3.2L flat 6-cylinder engine rated at 200 horsepower and 185 lb-ft of torque mated to type 915 5-speed manual transmission with a limited slip differential.
Per the window sticker its factory optional equipment consists of an all-leather interior, steering wheel with raised hub, Blaupunkt Monterey digital cassette radio, limited slip differential, 16″ Fuchs forged alloy wheels, automatic heating control, cruise control, sport shock absorbers, and an alarm system for a total as delivered MSRP of $38,795.
Per the original window sticker and the stamped service booklet this 911 was sold new at Ryan Porsche and Audi in Ft. Worth, TX on 1/9/1984 and subsequently registered in Oklahoma City, OK in which the original owner retained it for approximately 26 years until 2010. Under this original ownership, it would remain in Oklahoma from 1984 to 1995 when the original owner moved it to Texas where it would remain until 2010. It would be routinely serviced Bob Dumont’s Porsche in Oklahoma City, OK through 1992 as stamped in the service booklet followed by servicing as needed in Texas with some service records on file.
In July 2010 it was acquired by Classic Cars Southeast in Lebanon, TN and, per the sales record on file, was subsequently sold to its second owner on 8/20/2010 for $21,500 and registered in Aiken, SC in which the second owner would retain it for approximately 13 years until 2023. Some service records are on file for service visits in South Carolina under these 13 years with the second owner. It would be acquired by its third owner on 3/3/2023 and subsequently registered in Grosse Pointe, MI since.
In preparation for sale nearly $7,000 has been invested in improvements and service. Most recently our preferred independent Porsche specialist Automotive Techniques in Novi, MI performed a $1,435 service which included an oil and filter change, brake fluid change, wheel balancing, new oil tank gasket, and a leak down test to confirm the health of the engine. The leak down test revealed excellent results of 2.0% in cylinder 1, 2.4% in cylinder 2, 2.0% in cylinder 3, 2.7% in cylinder 4, 2.5% in cylinder 5, and 2.0% in cylinder 6 for an average of 2.27%. Proven results that the motor is very healthy with a current mileage reading of ~51,300 miles which is a testament to its fastidious care.
Additionally, it received new leather and cushioning for the front seats at HoF Designs in Dearborn Heights, MI at a cost of $3,000, a comprehensive undercarriage dry ice treatment at C02 Auto Renew in Wixom, MI at a cost of $2,000, as well as a comprehensive in-house paint correction, polishing, and detailing.
